Meet Alexis Schmiedigen, PsyD

Alexis believes therapy is about helping people heal, grow, and build lives that feel more authentic, connected, and fulfilling. She strives to create a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel genuinely understood, thoughtfully challenged, and supported in creating meaningful and lasting change.

Alexis is a licensed clinical psychologist and Associate Clinical Director at Connections Health. With more than fifteen years of clinical experience, she works with college students and adults navigating eating disorders, trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, chronic illness, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. She also provides adult ADHD assessments and treatment to help individuals better understand its impacts and offer strategies to support work, relationships, academics, and daily life.

Alexis takes an integrative, relational, and trauma-informed approach to treatment. She thoughtfully incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), attachment-based therapy, somatic approaches, and other evidence-based treatments, tailoring therapy to each client’s unique strengths, goals, and lived experience.

As a bilingual and bicultural psychologist, Alexis provides therapy in English and Spanish and is proficient in Brazilian Portuguese. She enjoys working with individuals with diverse cultural backgrounds and challenges, and understanding how culture, identity, family, and life experiences shape each person’s story.

Alexis is experienced in providing training, consultation, and supervision. Alexis earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from William James College, with a concentration in Latino Mental Health. She also holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Boston College and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Boston University. Her clinical training includes Boston Behavioral Medicine, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Cambridge Eating Disorder Center, and private practice in both Boston and the Chicago suburbs.

Alexis is licensed in Illinois and Massachusetts and is authorized to practice telepsychology through PSYPACT, allowing her to provide services to clients in more than 40 states.
