Meet Jessica Acosta, LCPC

Jessica is experienced working with children, adolescents, college students, and young adults providing individual, family, and group therapy. Her areas of focus are anxiety, OCD, depression, mood disorders, eating disorders, body image concerns, and substance use. She has expertise with developmental and interpersonal trauma, grief and loss, and PTSD. Her expertise also includes supporting life and study skills and developing school and community-based programs.

Warm, engaging, and strengths-focused, Jessica integrates interpersonal and solution-focused therapy, family and systems approaches, psychoeducation, mindfulness, and arts-based tools in a collaborative therapy process. She is also skilled with short-term crisis and stabilization interventions. Jessica is interested in multicultural themes and adjustments, identity development, sexuality, social and relationship challenges, and family issues.

Jessica has also worked with immigrant, Latino, and Native American clients, and others with diverse backgrounds and identities, as well as with first-generation and international students. She is fluent in Spanish.

Her training and experience also include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and harm reduction approaches for substance use issues.

Jessica has extensive experience as a lead clinician and supervisor in hospital, residential, outpatient, and school settings. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Indiana University and her Master’s in Counseling Psychology and Art Therapy from Adler University Chicago.
