Meet Nora Frazin, LCSW

Nora values supporting the adolescents, college and graduate students, and adults she works with across the life stages of development. She is experienced in addressing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, emotion regulation challenges, post traumatic stress, grief and loss, ADHD, and substance use disorders. Nora frequently works with clients experiencing challenges related to gender and sexuality, interpersonal and sexual trauma, body image and eating concerns, ASD, multicultural themes and adjustments, and other diverse self-esteem and identity concerns. Nora helps clients develop their capacities and skills for a wide range of relationships, and for managing various life, social and emotional stressors.

Nora’s personal warmth is coupled with a flexible and creative approach to collaboration in therapy. Thoughtful and engaging, Nora’s integrative approach utilizes psychodynamic and relational perspectives along with frameworks and tools from DBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Interpersonal Process (IPT), family systems and couples therapy. For clients that need help with academic motivation, perfectionism, daily tasks, and stress management, Nora incorporates mindfulness and grounding strategies, organization and executive function skills, and resource and support building, along with a focus on establishing productive activities and routines.

Nora brings extensive experience in community mental health, child welfare, school and educational settings in assessing and supporting the emotional, social and educational needs of her clients. While working toward her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Chicago, Nora served as editor-in-chief of the Advocates Forum social work journal and was honored with the Dean’s Distinguished Leadership Award. In addition to her graduate training, Nora completed a two-year fellowship at the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute and earned her Bachelor’s degree in English at Grinnell College.
